Double Delight For Freight And Logistics Group

K + N Collect Plaudits and Business in a Good Week

EUROPE – Whilst it has been a comparatively quiet period for the freight and logistics world due to the plethora of holidays in the past few days this week has seen good news for German group Kuehne + Nagel who have received an award from the most prestigious of customers and signed a long term contract for logistics and supply chain services including storage and distribution of frozen products for another existing client.

At their third annual Supplier of the Year Awards dinner Rolls Royce awarded the title to K +N in recognition of the groups provision of dedicated global account teams operate in-house within Rolls-Royce in the UK, Scandinavia, Germany, the U.S. and Singapore, managing air and sea freight, road haulage and contract logistics services, as well as providing tailor-made solutions for the aerospace, marine and energy sectors. Mike Orris, Chief Procurement Officer at Rolls-Royce said of the award:

"The Rolls-Royce Supplier of the Year awards recognise the contribution and continuous commitment of strategic partners and suppliers in support of the Rolls-Royce supply chain strategy and, ultimately, the performance of our product range.”

When receiving the award on behalf of the company Tim Scharwath, President of Kuehne + Nagel North West Europe said how delighted the freight forwarder was to be acknowledged and hoped for many more years of successful collaboration between the two.

Yesterday K + N announced an extension of their partnership with frozen food group Agorà Network Srl for whom it supplies warehousing and distribution operations for the retailer’s stores across northern Italy that include brands such as Iperal, Tigros and Poli. Since 2007, the logistics provider has been supporting the retailer’s supply chain optimisation and managing a 45,000 sqm ambient foods warehouse for Agorà in Brignano Gera d’Adda, east of Milan.

Under the new six year contract K + N will distribute over one and a half million cases a year for Agorà to over two hundred outlets throughout Italy from a temperature controlled (-28°C) facility in Casorate Primo (PV) which is supported by the latest radio frequency and voice picking technology.
