USA / GERMANY – German freight and logistics giant Deutsche Bahn has been reported by the Financial Times Deutschland (FTD) to be considering closing down its US logistics subsidiary DB Schenker Logistics.

According to the FTD the management at Deutsche Bahn will decide on the future of the loss-making American arm by the end of the year at the latest, but possibly by as early as August.

Amongst less drastic options would be major restructuring of the operation, though the FTD states that closure is more likely.

Deutsche Bahn – which has operated in the USA since 1947 - has not yet issued a statement on the issue.
