UK - We are deeply saddened to report the death of David Brooksbank MBE, on 5th April following a long battle with emphysema.

David is best remembered for his many years’ service at British Caledonian Airways (BCAL), where he was the well-known and very popular General Manager Cargo from 1978-1988. Earlier in his BCAL career, he spent five years working in Africa, for which he was awarded an MBE in 1974.

After the acquisition of BCAL by British Airways, David went on to become MD of Scan International Group (1988-91), was appointed General Manager Cargo at Dan Air (1991-92), Senior Marketing Director EMEA at Airmax Airlines (1992-97) and was finally Chairman of East-West-Jet from 1997 until his retirement in 2004.

David was a keen follower of cricket, a lover of classical music and enjoyed playing the piano. He is survived by wife Judith, daughter Angela and son John to whom we extend our deepest sympathies.

A memorial service will take place at St. John the Evangelist Church, Copthorne Village, West Sussex, UK on Tuesday 22 June at 2 pm. This will be followed by an informal reception at the Copthorne Hotel from 2.45 pm onwards.

Friends and former colleagues are most welcome, and anyone wishing to attend is requested to let the family know by email (john@threecups.co.uk), or by phoning John Brooksbank on +44 (0)1435 830656
