Dachser Expands Freight and Logistics Offering in Vietnam

VIETNAM – Freight and logistics provider Dachser is continuing to pursue its global expansion by establishing a joint venture in Vietnam, the principal shareholder being Dachser Far East in Hong Kong. The range of services provided by Dachser Vietnam Co. Ltd, extends from air and sea freight business to customs clearance and a wide variety of other logistics services. In the short term the company plans to employ a staff of 20. The head office and first branch office is located in Ho Chi Minh City. The opening of a second branch office in the Vietnamese capital Hanoi is planned for the end of the year. Thomas Reuter, Managing Director Dachser Air & Sea Logistics, said:

“Through our commitment in Vietnam we are present for our customers in one of the most productive and strongest growth markets in the region.”

Dachser aims to have representation in forty nine countries by 2017 and already has representation in nine Asian countries. Michael Deisemann has been appointed country manager for Vietnam and has been involved in the logistics business in there for over 14 years. He will report to Edoardo Podestá, regional managing director Far East, who is based in Hong Kong. Mr Deisemann said:

“We want to enhance our existing services for our customers operating in Vietnam and also look to increase our presence both in the international freight forwarding sector but also in building a comprehensive range of logistics service across the country,”
