UK – Maritime UK has established a Taskforce to address fairness, equality, and inclusion within the maritime sector. The Taskforce will make a series of recommendations and utilise best practice from other sectors that have taken similar action. Sue Terpilowski, Managing Director of Image Line Communications and President of Women’s International Shipping and Trading Association (WISTA UK) has been named to Chair the Taskforce.

UK – The Thames Skills Academy (TSA) has announced the appointment of Dr Katherine Riggs as Chief Executive Officer, effective February 1. Riggs joins the TSA from the Port of London Authority (PLA) where, for the last three years, she has led the development of the Thames Vision. She succeeds Julian Parkes.
UK – AV Dawson has announced a series of appointments with Andy Watkins named as Operations Director, Mark Wells as Head of Engineering, and Shaun Cuthburt as Building and Infrastructure Manager.
UK – BMT has announced the appointment of Guy Tomlinson as Group Capability and Strategy Director. Tomlinson joins BMT from QinetiQ where he led a 35-strong business development team as UK Sales Director
GERMANY – After 38 years in the Oetker Group, including almost 25 years at Hamburg Süd, Eva Graumann, Global Head of Corporate Communications at Hamburg Süd, will be handing over responsibility for leading the company’s global communications to her successor and transitioning into retirement. From February 1, Rainer Horn will lead Global Communications at the container shipping line.
EUROPE – Michael Harrell has been named President of Freight Forwarding for UPS Europe, reporting to Nando Cesarone.
HONG KONG – Mark Whitehead, Chief Executive of Hong Kong Air Cargo Terminals Limited (Hactl) has announced his intention to retire from March 7, after nearly 8 years at the helm. Wilson Kwong, currently Chief Executive of Jardine Engineering Corporation has been named to replace Whitehead.
US – Crowley Logistics has announced the reorganisation of its inland transportation group. Leading the company’s US Department of Defense's Freight Transportation Services (DFTS) contract execution is Shiju Zacharia, who has been promoted to Senior Director of Transportation, reporting to Crowley's Vice President of North America Transportation, Bob Weist. Zacharia most recently was Director of Technology, and remains based in the company’s Jacksonville, Florida headquarters.
Kara Bryant has been promoted to Director of Intermodal Services, reporting to Weist. Bryant, who remains based in Jacksonville, most recently served as Manager of Logistics. Leading the logistics transportation team is Greg Durr, who has been promoted to Director of Transportation, reporting to Weist. Durr, who relocated to Jacksonville from Cincinnati, Ohio, most recently was Manager of Broker Services.
US – Sasser Family Holdings has announced the promotion of Kelly Pronek, previously Senior Director, to the role of Vice President of Corporate Communications and Marketing, effective immediately and reporting directly to CEO Jeff Walsh.
US – Truckstop.com has announced the promotion of Steven Foster to Vice President of Small and Medium Business Sales
US – Telematics provider, the Floow, has named John Kramer as Vice President and Head of North American Sales.
US – Volkert has announced, current Chief Executive Officer and Chairman of the Board Perry Hand is stepping down as CEO and appointing President and Chief Operating Officer Jerry Stump as his successor, effective immediately. Hand has led the nearly-century-old infrastructure engineering firm for seven years and has worked at the firm in leadership capacities since 1993. He remains as Chairman of the Board supporting the CEO in corporate activities.
US – NBA Hall of Famer and TNT commentator Shaquille O'Neal has joined Carnival Cruise Line as their newly appointed CFO, Chief Fun Officer. The announcement was made with a tongue-in-cheek video that features Shaq and Carnival President Christine Duffy. As the newly appointed CFO, O'Neal has partnered with the cruise line, lending his fun, larger-than-life personality and playful spirit to inspire America to Choose Fun with Carnival when planning their next holiday.
