US – Jacksonville based Crowley Maritime Corporation announced this week their Crowley's Puerto Rico/Caribbean liner services group has been awarded the prestigious Award for Excellence in Quality in the marine division from Toyota Logistics Services. This is the eighth consecutive year the group has received recognition from Toyota and was greeted with delight by Crowley. The award was presented in Long Beach, California just south of Toyota Logistics headquarters in Torrance.

"Awards like these are truly special because they underscore the extreme dedication Crowley has to consistently deliver exceptional customer service," said John Douglass, senior vice president and general manager of Crowley’s Puerto Rico/Caribbean services. "Toyota is committed to designing and delivering high-quality vehicles and Crowley takes great pride in teaming with them to handle these vehicles safely and with supreme care."

Crowley say they reinvest profits to ensure they both maintain and enhance the car stowage decking on their vessels. The Jacksonville terminal has reserved, fenced terminal space for approximately 225 vehicles at any time located directly across from the vessel-loading ramp, minimizing the need for terminal transit of Toyota vehicles. The vessels are equipped to stow up to 240 vehicles per voyage in protected and dedicated auto decking space. A team of auto checkers and traffic specialists play a large role in ensuring that load lists are correct and documentation is complete prior to sailing.

In addition to their car carrying capabilities Crowley's container shipping services include up to three weekly, fixed-day sailings (one rotating direct and two weekly) between Jacksonville, Florida, and San Juan, Puerto Rico, utilizing high-capacity triple-deck RO/RO barges. In addition shippers in the Northeast can utilize Crowley's weekly, fixed-day sailing between Pennsauken, New Jersey and San Juan.
