JAPAN – Container shipping group K Line has announced a series of changes to its senior staff with Vice President Executive Officer Takashi Saeki and Senior Managing Executive Officers Keisuke Yoshida and Masami Sasaki, all becoming Directors of K Line, effective March 31. The Group has also named the successors with current Senior Managing Executive Officer Eizo Murakami replacing Saeki as Vice President Executive Officer, and current Managing Executive Officers Toshiykui Suzuki, Hiromichi Aoki and Tsuyoshi Yamauchi, all becoming Senior Managing Executive Officers, effective April 1.
Also effective April 1, current Executive Officers Atsuo Asano, Yukio Toriyama, Kenji Sakamoto, and Kazuhiro Matsukawa will become Managing Executive Officers. K Line have also made new appointments to its senior board with Makoto Arai, General Manager, Legal Group; Kiyokazu Arai, General Manager, General Affairs Group; Ako Hiraoka, General Manager, Nagoya Branch; and Takafuni Kido, Director of K Line Europe, all becoming Executive Officers.
SOUTH AFRICA – FRANCE – Another box line is ringing the changes as CMA CGM has announced the reorganisation of its South African arm, following the departure of Arnaud Thibault, Regional Director and Managing Director of CMA CGM South Africa. Estève Servajean, Deputy Vice-President in charge of the African network of Agencies, took over from Thibault at the end of January.
After 5 years as head of CMA CGM South Africa, Arnaud Thibault has been appointed Deputy Vice President Africa Lines in the CMA CGM Group and will join the Headquarters Office in Marseilles, France.
AUSTRALIA – Qantas has named Alison Webster as its new Executive Manager of Qantas Freight, since February 1, following her predecessor Lisa Brock’s recent appointment as Chief Commercial Officer of the Jetstar Group.
General Peter Cosgrove, AC, MC has stepped down from his position as a Non-Executive Director of Qantas Airways to take on new responsibilities as the next Governor-General of the Commonwealth of Australia.
DENMARK – CEO of Maersk Brokers, Jørn Steen Nielsen has announced his resignation from the company, effective early February. The company has announced his successor as Anders Hald, current Chief Executive of Maersk Broker Asia.
UK – Maritime London Chairman Jeffrey Evans has also been appointed chairman of industry lobby group, Maritime UK, in addition to his role as Managing Director of Gas at Clarksons as well as Alderman of the City of London.
UK – Following the retirement of the Road Haulage Association’s (RHA) Director for Scotland and Northern Ireland Phil Flanders at the end of 2013, the RHA has announced his successor with the appointment of the Martin Reid as the new Director.
As part of its task to increase and continue support and commitment for the Northern Ireland membership the RHA has also announced the appointment of Geraldine Quinn to the newly created position of Area Manager for Northern Ireland.
UK – Prohire has announced the appointment of David Barlow as its new Group Commercial Director, effective March 3, not to be confused with Prohire’s Chairman and CEO who is also named David Barlow.
UK – Parcel carriers Yodel, has announced the appointment of Nick Porter as its new Sales and Marketing Director.
NORTH AMERICA – TMD Friction has named Tony Croy as its new Managing Director, NAFTA, and Fabio Jurchaks as Director of Sales and Engineering, NAFTA. Croy reports to Greg Scheessele, Senior Vice President, TMD Americas.
US – Ken Burroughs has been named Chairman of the SMC³ Board of Directors, succeeding Rob Estes of Estes Freight Lines. He assumed his duties as chairman at SMC³’s Jump Start conference, January 20-22. Burroughs has served on the board of SMC³ for more than a decade and now begins a two-year commitment as Chairman.
US – Soup maker Campbell has announced the appointment of current Vice President, North America Supply Chain, Dave Biegger as Senior Vice President, Global Supply Chain, effective April 1, following the retirement of David White.
CENTRAL EUROPE - Pierre-Jean Lorrain, previously Managing Director of GEFCO, Italy has been appointed head of the Central Europe, Balkans and Middle East zone for the Group; one of the priority markets within which GEFCO is working to strengthen its presence.
