FRANCE – CMA CGM, the world’s third largest container shipping group, has opened its own new university, the CMA CGM Academy, sited within the group’s stunning headquarters in Marseille. The company launched its own first in-house university some years ago to prioritise the training essential to the French company’s partners but says this move strengthens procedures.

The restructured training centre is intended to run intense courses in the practice of shipping alongside other essential skills such as management. CMA CGM has developed intercultural courses to assist all collaborators working with different countries improving their cultural understanding.

Fifty three CMA CGM trainers will use their individual expertise to tutor 285 training modules. These half-a-day to six day modules will be taught in one of the eleven rooms dedicated to the facility with digital support meaning training will be accessible at any moment by all of the 20,000 CMA CGM Group collaborators, wherever they might be, via the online service providing 450 e-learning modules. Thierry Billion, CMA CGM Senior Vice President Human Resources, observed:

“With the CMA CGM Academy, our Group invests in innovative tools to go on improving its operational performances and to convey its values and corporate culture. With the CMA CGM Academy, our Group development develops along with our collaborators’ skills.”
