Evergreen Boss Dies at Sixty One

TAIWAN – Container shipping group Evergreen Marine has announced that its Chairman Capt. Zongjin Wang, has died from an unspecified illness on September 20, at the age of 61. Wang joined the company in 1976 as an officer and was eventually promoted to the top management of Evergreen Container Terminal (Thailand) Ltd in 1997. He worked his way up through the ranks before being elected Chairman in June 2011. Taking over from Capt. Wang, Zhengyong Zhang has, as of October 1, been formally appointed as Chairman of the Board having taking the position in a temporary capacity following Zongjin Wang’s unfortunate demise. Evergreen has also appointed Zhang Xinyi as General Manager, replacing Zhengyong Zhang.

CHINA –Ma Ze Hua has resigned as the Chairman and Non-Independent Non-Executive Director of Cosco Singapore. Li Yun Peng will succeed Ma Ze Hua as Chairman and also take up the position as a member of the Strategic Development Committee.

UK – Schenker Limited has announced the appointment of Michael Sims as its new Ocean Freight Director with effect from October 1. Sims replaces Glen Boyce who has taken up a full-time role within the group as Head of Ocean Freight, Region Europe North, DB Schenker Logistics.

UK – Impatex has appointed Ali Ghaffar as its new Area Account Manager for the London Airports. In his new post, Ghaffar will provide frontline liaison with current Impatex customers in the London Airports area, and spearhead sales to potential new users.

UK – Unipart has appointed Patrick Newberry as a Non-Executive Director of its consultancy, Unipart Expert Practices.

UK – Palletline has made three new appointments to support its operational objectives and drive performance across its cooperative network of hauliers. Iain Brown will take up the role of Operations Director; Steve Butler as Head of Network Services; and Roger Merrison as Depot Manager for Palletline London.

UK – GERMANY – Kuehne + Nagel has appointed Marcus Bennett as its new National Manager for its UK organisation, effective November 1, succeeding Yngve Ruud who will move to the company's Western Europe headquarters in Hamburg.

CANADA – The Board of Directors of Econo-Rack Inc. has announced the appointment of Gabe Mazzetti to the position of President. Mazzetti has held the position of both Senior Vice President Sales and President of Sales since March 2010.

US – CSX Transportation has announced that Bob Frulla is the new Vice President of Transportation for the Northern Region. Frulla succeeds Gary Bethel, who is retiring after 43 distinguished years with CSX. Reporting to Cindy Sanborn, Vice President and Chief Transportation Officer, Frulla will be responsible for overseeing CSX operations in Indiana, Illinois, Maryland, New York and Ohio.
