UK – Freight forwarding companies and shipping lines will be two players in the supply chain which stand to benefit from the development of the new loaded container storage depot just launched by box haulage company James Kemball adjacent to Britain's busiest container port. With an initial capacity in excess of 1600 TEU the facility follows a multi-million pound investment by the locally headquartered operator.

The five-acre depot, located at Clickett Hill Road in Felixstowe will operate from 0600 Monday - 0500 Saturday and extend to Saturday mornings in the New Year and Kemball’s say it provides forwarders a container storage solution that boasts state of the art facilities and outstanding customer service levels. The company has four new members of staff already on board with plans to build this to a team of ten over the coming year.

The company has invested in the latest Kalmar reach stackers, which boast Felixstowe’s largest container weight lifting capacity outside the port. The new depot includes a one acre plot that is available for further development and could provide tailored warehousing facilities for James Kemball clients. Commenting on the launch of the depot, Commercial Director of James Kemball, Darren Walne said:

“This investment is very much part of our overall strategic plan to add value. Not only will it help us to grow our client base but will provide a fantastic new service for current clients and the ability for them to streamline their supply chain and reduce their quay storage costs.”

The new development sits less than two miles from the Port of Felixstowe and Depot Manager Andy Tattersall observed:

“We are immensely proud of our long-standing relationships with our customers and this depot will set new standards of excellence in how we operate, the equipment we use and how we utilise our strongest assets, our people, to provide exceptional customer service in an environmentally friendly and, importantly, safe environment.”
