UK – Pentalver, the shipping container specialist which deals in all aspects of the box trade, from handling and transport to bespoke conversions, tell us that its reefer department at Felixstowe has been awarded the Carrier Transicold CareMAX award for refrigerant management excellence. Pentalver becomes only the 6th cool chain service centre in Europe and the first centre in the UK to achieve the certification, which aims to help raise the standard of service and quality in refrigerant-handling operations for the container shipping industry.

Short for Carrier Refrigerant Management Excellence, CareMAX programme sets standards to help Carrier-authorised container service centres better manage refrigerants and refrigerant supplies. CareMAX protocols cover all post-production stages of refrigerant handling, from procurement and testing, to storage and decanting, including maintenance of refrigerant-handling tools and how to train service technicians who handle refrigerants.

Participating service centres are required to successfully pass an audit conducted by Carrier Transicold’s global service organisation before the service centre will be authorised to use and display the CareMAX logo. This award confirms Pentalver’s processes and procedures to eliminate the possibility of introducing counterfeit refrigerant entering the global reefer fleet. Pentalver Felixstowe Reefer Manager Danny Baines said:

“This is a great achievement for the Reefer team at Felixstowe, its shows our commitment to keeping our employees and the industry safe. To be the first UK service centre to receive this recognition and award is a testament to the professionalism and standing of Pentalver in the UK Reefer market.”

The CareMAX programme, which we reviewed three years ago, was developed in response to instances of refrigerant contamination and counterfeiting in the industry in recent years. CareMAX protocols incorporate high standards for procedures and written processes focused on preventing improper refrigerant from entering the service channel. Speaking about the award, Pentalver Managing Director Chris Lawrenson, said:

“Pentalver has been in the reefer business for well over 20 years and this accreditation externally awarded reiterates the Pentalver commitment to safety and the highest level of service we offer our customers. This award confirms our dedication to the reefer industry and highlights the training and effort that is continually invested into our business to enable us to achieve excellence. Pentalver is very proud to have been recognised for maintaining the highest levels within our operation and achieving the CareMAX standard.”
