ISRAEL – FINLAND – Finnish based Konecranes has received a repeat order for three Rail Mounted Gantry (RMG) cranes from Haifa Port Company in Israel. The RMGs will work in container freight yard operations, lifting 1-over-5 containers high with a lifting capacity of 40 tonnes and a railspan of 32 metres. Like the majority of the Konecranes RMGs already working at the Haifa container terminal, the new RMGs will be equipped with Active Load Control for high stacking productivity and DGPS skew control.

With this delivery, Haifa Port Company will operate a total of fifteen Konecranes RMGs. This batch of three cranes will be delivered at the end of 2016 to early 2017. The order was booked in the fourth quarter of 2014 and the parties involved have agreed not to disclose the value of the order. Jussi Sarpio, General Manager, RMG Cranes, Konecranes/Port Cranes, said:

“These RMG cranes were options to the original contract. I’m glad to receive this repeat order. It shows that we performed well with the initial deliveries, and that the cranes are delivering the performance and reliability needed by Haifa Port Company.”

The new units will also be equipped with Konecranes’ Truconnect® remote monitoring system and the order was endorsed by Gil Friedler, Head of Design and Development, Haifa Port Company, who commented:

“Konecranes RMGs are very productive, reliable cranes that we depend on to serve our customers well.”
