Container Feeder and Distribution Groups Snapped Up by Middle Eastern Interests

Another Set of Acquisitions for Port and Logistics Subsidiary

DUBAI – INDIAN SUBCONTINENT – FAR EAST – Denmark based Unifeeder, now part of the DP World empire, has made major acquisitions this week via its Unifeeder ISC (Indian Subcontinent) platform. The container shipping group has purchased, subject to regulatory approvals, Transworld Feeders FZCO, Avana Logistek Limited, including its subsidiary Avana Global FZCO, and Transworld Feeders Pvt. Ltd., plus the containerised Indian coastal and EXIM feeder shipping operations of Shreyas Shipping and Logistics Limited, excluding vessels and bulk operations.

Established in 1982, Transworld Feeders and Avana Global are leading independent feeder and NVOCC operators, offering container feedering services and regional trade solutions connecting a wide range of ports in the Middle East, Indian Subcontinent and Far East with a number of central hub ports in the region, including the central hub port of Jebel Ali in the UAE. This port acts as a central hub playing a pivotal role for a large part of the services on offer in which the companies have a strong presence within trade routes west of the Indian Subcontinent.

Avana Logistek and Avana Global cover 60 ports, whereas Transworld Feeders and Shreyas Shipping and Logistics cover 53 ports. Ramesh S Ramakrishnan, Chairman of Transworld Group and Shreyas Shipping and Logistics Limited said:

Transworld Feeders and Avana Logistek maintain a comprehensive coverage of all main ports, terminals and inland destinations in India whilst Avana Logistek also provides first mile and last mile delivery solutions within the Indian domestic market. Both claim to be market leaders in providing logistic solutions to cargo owners, traders, forwarders, and shipping lines. Sultan Ahmed Bin Sulayem, Group Chairman and CEO, DP World observed:
