Container and Bulk Freight Shipping Jobs Head the Weeks Staff Appointments

WORLDWIDE – One of the major staff appointments of the week is in the world of containers and bulk freight with the news that the World Shipping Council (WSC) Board of Directors has approved the appointments of Tai Soo Suk, President of Hanjin Shipping to fill the seat previously held by his predecessor at Hanjin Y.M. Kim, and Søren Toft Chief Operating Officer of Maersk Line to fill the seat previously held by his predecessor at Maersk Line Morten Engelstoft.

SWITZERLAND – At the Annual General Meeting on May 6, 2014, the Kuehne + Nagel Board of Directors will propose the election of the former CEO of management consultant firm Roland Berger Strategy Consultants, Dr. Martin Wittig, and Chief Financial Officer and member of the Management Board at Kuehne + Nagel, Gerard van Kesteren to the Board of Directors. Mr van Kesteren is to retire from his current post as of June 30 with the intention to transfer to the Board on July 1.

UK – Senior Vice President and Head of UK Operations at Prologis, Simon Jenkins is to leave the company after being with the company for 11 years.

UK – The Palletways Group has appointed Luis Zubialde to the newly created role of UK Managing Director. Zubialde will take up his new position shortly, but in the interim will continue as Managing Director of Palletways Iberia until a successor is appointed.

UK – The Hutton’s Group has made several changes to its senior staff with Shaun Casey joining as Hutton’s Commercial Manager, Colin Greetham joining as Business Development Manager and Dominic Smith taking up the role of Warehouse and Transport Manager.

UK – International law firm, Hill Dickinson has appointed two new partners to head up its existing Aviation team in London. Joanna Kolatsis and Saleema Brohi joined the firm at the beginning of the month.

UK – BMT SMART Ltd. (BMT), a subsidiary of BMT Group Ltd, the international maritime design, engineering and risk management consultancy has announced the appointment of Laura McKelvie as Product Manager.

AUSTRALIA – The Australian Chamber of Commerce and Industry has announced the appointment of Kate Carnell AO to the position of Chief Executive Officer. She will take up the Canberra based appointment in May.

UAE – Abu Dhabi Ports Company (ADPC) has announced the appointment of Gary Lemke as new Executive Vice President (EVP) Ports.

US –Noel Martinez joins Trans Marine Propulsion as Senior Superintendent Engineer to support non OEM Wartsila service work.

US – YRC Freight has announced the appointment of Darren Hawkins as President, reporting directly to YRC Worldwide’s CEO, James Welch.

US – DHL Express has appointed Mike Parra as its new CEO for the Americas Region replacing Ian Clough who has served as the CEO of  DHL Express US since 2009. Parra previously served the company as its Senior Vice President of Network Operations and remains a member of the Americas Management Board but will also be installed as a Member of the US Management Board.
