UK – The National Maritime Development Group (NMDG) and its dedicated recruitment service, Jobs in Maritime, have launched a unique two day event as part of next year’s International Festival for Business (IFB2016), to promote UK maritime infrastructure development, high technology projects, products, systems and services to industry professionals from around the world. Taking place on the 15th and 16th of June at the Exhibition Centre in Liverpool, Investinblue will include an official networking drinks reception, a two day conference and a tour of Goodison Park, the home of Everton Football Club.

In partnership with the UKTI and the Department for Business Skills and Innovation, the event will aim to demonstrate why maritime infrastructure development projects are essential to instigating and maintaining growth in the national economy and will also showcase the vibrancy and growth of the sector and its world-class capabilities in design and advanced engineering in the production of vessels ranging from civil and military ships to leisure craft and superyachts, plus innovations in marine equipment and offshore renewable devices.

Held in Liverpool from 13 June to 1 July 2016, IFB2016 is a biennial marketplace which brings together thousands of businesses of every size from around the world for three weeks of events, networking and deal-making. Meanwhile Investinblue hopes to take advantage of the gathering by bringing together the UK maritime sector with the goal of working collectively to showcase and draw interest and inbound investment from stakeholders both domestic and overseas. This is aiming to stimulate the growth of the UK and maritime economy, and speaking of the potential the event could bring to the sector, Peter Green, CEO of NMDG said:

“Today we find a UK maritime sector that covers everything from shipping to sub-sea technology, ports to aquaculture, legal and financial services to renewable energy, historic vessels to marine engineering and from the Royal Navy to commercial fishing. The NMDG continues to engage with enthusiastic and passionate professionals who are looking to advance the state of the UK maritime sector and take on the challenge of ensuring that the UK remains a global maritime centre.

“We believe the UK’s maritime industries remain one of the best prospects for high value, high skilled economic growth and is a sector that has many competitive advantages, across all sub- sectors. We believe in our abilities to forge partnerships and key strategic alliances to make the maritime connection and we are excited that Investinblue will build on our existing programmes to further support maritime industries within the UK to help drive trade, productivity and growth.

“Important discussions at the event will help identify new connections, new routes to investment and the new ideas and strategy to help the sectors businesses achieve their full potential, including supply chain development, equipment, skills expertise and knowledge sharing.”
