USA / SINGAPORE – French-based shipping group CMA CGM have announced that they will be adding the port of Singapore to its PEX 3 service from the 11th of November. The PEX 3 will be the only service with direct calls from Houston to Singapore.

CMA CGM state that: “As the newest port added to the rotation, the weekly service will offer competitive transit times to Houston, Miami, Jacksonville, Savannah, Charleston, Norfolk, Tangier, Jebel Ali, Singapore, Shanghai, Xiamen, Chiwan, Hong Kong and Australia via transshipment at Singapore.”

Jean Philippe Thenoz, vice president, North American lines, CMA CGM Group, said that: “We are continuously evaluating solutions to meet the import and export needs of our customers.

“By adding the port of Singapore to our Transpacific rotation, customers now will have direct and timely access to this very important domestic and transshipment market.”

The new service is an indication in the company’s faith that the doldrums the freight industry has been languishing in for so long is starting to lift.
