DENMARK – GERMANY – Following container shipping giant Maersk Line's planned acquisition of Hamburg Süd from the Oetker Group, several changes to the organisational structure have been announced, effective in the fourth quarter of 2017. Ottmar Gast will retire as Chairman of the Executive Board to become the Chairman of the Supervisory Board of Hamburg Süd, with Søren Toft, Chief Operating Officer of Maersk Line becoming a member of Hamburg Süd’s Supervisory Board.

Arnt Vespermann will become the new Chairman of the Executive Board of Hamburg Süd and will in addition to his then existing responsibilities be in charge of Compliance, Corporate Communication and of Columbus Ship Management. He will lead the Region North America (RNA) and Region Caribbean & Latin America West Coast (RCW).

Frank Smet will continue as member of the Executive Board of Hamburg Süd with responsibilities for Sales & Marketing, Customer Order Management and all Hamburg Süd parts of Operations, including Network and Logistics. He will manage the Region Asia Pacific (RAP) and Region South America East Coast (RSE).

Jakob Wegge-Larsen, currently CFO of Maersk Line Operations, will join the Executive Board of Hamburg Süd to assume the responsibility of Finance & Accounting, Controlling and Information Technology & Services. He will oversee for Region Europe (REU).

SWITZERLAND – Dirk Reich has been confirmed as a new Member of the Board of Directors at Panalpina. Roger Schmid had previously decided not to stand for re-election. All other members of the board were re-elected for another one-year term.

UK – The Cowes Harbour Commission has announced two new appointments to the Board of Cowes Harbour Commissioners, Nick Elderfield and Ra Hennessy, and the re-appointment of Andrew Cooper as a Commissioner, for a second term. Elderfield and Hennessy began their three year term on May 1.

UK – Fowler Welch has appointed Sean Negus to the role of Head of Operations – Ambient. He takes over from Jimmy Lee, who held the title on an interim basis. Lee has moved to a new role within the businesses’ chilled sector.

UK – UAE – SINAGPORE – GAC has announced a round of management appointments at Group and individual company level. Ronnie Knowles, former Managing Director at NSGAC Abu Dhabi, has taken over as Group Sales Director – East, responsible for the regions between the Middle East to Japan. He is based in Singapore.

For the area from the Americas to Europe and Africa, former Marketing Manager – Shipping Services Neil Godfrey, has been appointed Group Sales Director – West, working out of the company’s UK offices. Both Group Sales Directors report directly to Group Vice President – Commercial, Stuart Bowie.

Gurumurthi Shankar, previously Group Sales Director, has been appointed Commercial Director for GAC Dubai. Craig Stewart, formerly Regional HR Manager for the Africa region, has been appointed Group HR Development Manager based at GAC Corporate Headquarters in Dubai.

At company level, Göran Eriksson has taken over as Managing Director for NSGAC Abu Dhabi. He is replaced as General Manager – Shipping Services with GAC Dubai by Johan Thuresson, who previously served in the same role with GAC Fujairah.

JAPAN – K Line has announced changes to its senior team, effective June 23. Harusato Nihei, current Audit & Supervisory Board Member, has been named as the company’s new Senior Managing Executive Officer and Chief Financial Officer. The Audit & Supervisory Board will welcome Mitoji Yabunaka and Kiyoshi Hosomizo will become Outside Directors.

US – Dupré Logistics has announced Liz Giddings as the Jackson, Florida Branch Manager.

US – Celadon Group has announced the promotion of Jonathan Russell, President of Celadon Logistics, to the role of President and Chief Operating Officer, where he will oversee all trucking operations, effective immediately. Douglas Schmidt has been named to President of Celadon Trucking and will oversee the truckload division.

Russell is the son of the Company's late founder and former Chairman and Chief Executive Officer, Stephen Russell. Schmidt previously served as President and COO at A&S Kinard, which was acquired by Celadon in 2014, and has over 22 years of experience in the truckload industry.

Eric Meek has resigned as President and Chief Operating Officer to pursue other interests.

US – Mark Vale has been named President of Growth and Emerging Markets at UPS. He succeeds Derek Woodward, who retired after 32 years of service to the company.
