AUSTRALIA – Very rarely does one get something for nothing but now, from the land of the High Rising Terminal (linguistic not freight), comes an offer to all those engaged in road haulage operations which must be worth a punt. At the Australian Trucking Association’s (ATA) ‘Trucking Australia’ event, truckers get the chance to put forward their views on issues affecting the industry and the chance to network with others in the industry. Now comes three chances to win a free trip to the two day bash for anyone working for a native company.

The trips are sponsored by Cummins South Pacific and Trucking Australia 2014 will be held on Hamilton Island on Friday 6 and Saturday 7 June 2014. To enter the competition for a free trip tell the ATA in 100 words or less the views you would contribute and the experiences you would share at Trucking Australia 2014. One winning entry will be selected from each category of chain of responsibility, safety, and wellbeing.

Send your answer along with your name, company, position and contact details to ataevents@truck.net.au  All entries must be received by 5pm on Monday 24 February 2014. The competition is open to all Australian trucking operators and their employees and each prize includes one full delegate registration to the event, two nights’ standard accommodation at the Hamilton Island Reef View hotel, one return economy air fare to Hamilton Island from any Australian capital city plus social dinner tickets for one guest (air fare not included).

This year’s event is set to build on the inaugural Trucking Australia 2013 and hopes to collate the views of all delegates on subjects ranging from reducing accident levels and improving health in the workplace to projecting the industry as a worthwhile career. The idea is to compile a workable strategic plan for the ATA’s future lobbying, communications and research priority objectives.

The competition winners will be contacted by phone and published in the ATA’s Friday Facts newsletter on Friday 28 February. The full competition terms and conditions can be found HERE along with programme details, registration particulars (for those of you unlucky enough not to win the competition) etc.
