UK - London Heathrow Airport has experienced its busiest month this year in terms of air freight. A total of 109,254 metric tons of freight was handled in July, making tonnage up by 5.9 percent from June.

Although the airports cargo tonnage fell 11.9 percent from the same month a year ago, this is the smallest year-over-year decline the airport has recorded so far in 2009. For the first seven months of this year air freight using Heathrow was down 16 percent compared to the same period of the last year.

The figures make this the third month in a row that Heathrow has recorded a growth in its freight tonnage.
