British Special Forces Liberate Seized Italian Vessel from Somali Pirates

No reports of casualties amongst crew

SOMALIA – Reports are coming in that British special forces have stormed and liberated an Italian cargo ship that had been hijacked by Somali pirates.

The 56,000-ton bulk carrier Montecristo, which was taken by five pirates 620 miles off Somalia on Monday the 10th of October, has been retaken in a military operation alleged to involve British troops.

According to a statement from the Italian Minister of Defence it appears that the 23-strong crew, made up of Indians, Italian and Ukrainians, have all been released unharmed.
