BRAZIL – Earlier this week, developer and manufacturer of oil and marine hoses for the offshore oil and gas industry, Trelleborg, officially opened its new, state-of-the-art facility in São Paulo, Brazil. The specialised production of hoses for surface and deep water applications will allow the organisation to continue to develop its platform for local presence in the region and growth in Brazil’s booming offshore oil industry.

This new facility will add to the company’s already increased presence in Latin America within the offshore oil & gas industry after the opening of a newly constructed facility in Macaé, Brazil, last month. This facility manufactures a wide range of high performance polymer-based solutions for topside and subsea oil and gas exploration. It also features the largest hydrostatic pressure testing vessel in the world. President for Trelleborg Industrial Solutions, Mikael Fryklund, said:

“The strongly growing offshore industry in Brazil justifies investments in the country. We have had significant sales to the oil and gas industry in Brazil for a long time. With the new facility, we continue to increase our global strength in oil hoses with local production and proximity to our customers in the country.”

The plant, which is located in Santana de Parnaiba, near São Paulo, covers a total area of 15,000 square metres and will be shared with Trelleborg’s printing solutions operation that will focus on the development and manufacturing of printing blankets for the graphic arts industry. 30% of employees at the site will be new appointments from the local area. President and CEO, Peter Nilsson said:

“The robustly expanding offshore industry in Brazil justifies the investments in the country. Our sales to the oil and gas industry in Brazil have been significant for some time now. This new facility will consolidate our globally strong position in oil hoses by establishing local production and proximity to our customers in the country. Trelleborg is also the first manufacturer in Brazil with a global presence in this field.”
