UK – FRANCE – Whilst we at the Handy Shipping Guide try to maintain our focus on news stories relevant to the freight and logistics industry sometimes it gives us the excuse to include something a little more exotic as our brief is such a wide one. Thus we bring you the news that Peters and May, Hampshire headquartered and the worlds only ISO accredited boat transporter have space on their next sailing to one of the most prestigious, not to say glamorous, events.
The grandly named Festival de la Plaisance de Cannes, may be less well known than its cinematographic sister but is hardly less dazzling with an array of the most expensive yachts in the world up for sale and lease (just view the video introduction). As usual Peters and May will be arranging transport to the event with a ship carrying vessels to within 100 nautical miles of the event in good time to sail onward and arrive at the 2012 Cannes Boat Show which runs between the 11th and 16th September.
The support sailings for this type of event are obviously dedicated principally to the carriage of yachts and other boats but Peters and May are more than happy to take general cargo such as exhibition stands, boxes of chandlery etc. by arrangement. There are still a few spaces aboard the sailing which is receiving in Southampton between the 27th and 31st August for docking at Savona in Italy between the 3rd and 7th September.
