Automotive Freight Forwarder Wins Chevrolet UK Distribution Rights

UK – Freight forwarder GEFCO UK, recently named both UK Automotive Logistics Company 2012 and European Logistics Company 2012 by the Institute of Transport Management (ITM) has been awarded a contract by Chevrolet to provide a new vehicle distribution service throughout Britain. Under the new arrangement, GEFCO provides finished vehicle logistics for onward distribution of Chevrolet products to approximately 33 dealers across the North of England, Scotland, South West England and Northern Ireland.

Chevrolet are of course part of GM, recently re-established as the largest car manufacturer in the world and an estimated 5,500 new Chevrolet vehicles per annum will be collected by GEFCO from their recently upgraded facility at Royal Portbury Docks, with the capacity to increase volumes in line with Chevrolet’s business requirements. Delivery includes fleet locations in all regions, as well as fleet deliveries and distribution of glamorous North American produced vehicles such as Cadillac, Corvette and Camaro.

GEFCO already supply a substantial amount of supply chain support to the car maker providing finished vehicle distribution across Russia and Northern Portugal, as well as distribution of North American vehicles from Antwerp into France and Mark Terry, Chevrolet UK Managing Director commented:
