AUSTRIA – GERMANY – Freight forwarding and logistics group Gebrüder Weiss is optimising the cargo handling operations at its Esslingen, Germany location with the construction of a new warehouse, to be equipped with improved soundproofing, energy efficient lighting, and a state-of-the-art CCTV system, meeting the highest standards in terms of technology, security and environmental preservation.
The Austrian headquartered firm has invested around €6 million in the expansion project which is set to commence operation at the end of 2015. Thorsten Munk, Branch Manager of Gebrüder Weiss Esslingen, said:
"The new infrastructure will enable us to offer even faster throughput times in cargo handling and to meet our customers' demands for shorter transport times."
Gebrüder Weiss employs around 300 members of staff at the Esslingen site, around 70 of these in the cargo handling terminal. The facility has good transport connections as it is close to the A8 motorway and the B10 main road. The established range of services includes general cargo transports throughout Europe with approximately 80 direct transports as well as partial and full loads.
On May 20 Gebrüder Weiss was named ‘Best Employer in Vorarlberg’ at the awards ceremony of the ‘Great Place to Work’ competition in Lauterach, just the latest in a series of awards in this accreditation, judged on company employees' anonymous feedback.
