AUSTRALIA – The Australian Trucking Association (ATA) has opened voter registration for the election of owner driver and small fleet representatives to the ATA General Council. The two positions are designed to represent the interests of smaller operators in the Australian road haulage industry with the owner driver member representing those in the trucking industry who own, are purchasing, or are leasing one truck and who drive it whilst the small fleet member represents those in the trucking industry who own, are purchasing, or are leasing between two to five trucks. The members hold office for two years.

To register to vote you must:

- be a person (including directors and/or shareholders of a company and trustees and beneficiaries of a trust) who owns, is purchasing or leasing 1-5 trucks over 4.5 tonnes;

- provide a valid Australian Business Number;

- provide a unique email address that is not used by any other person seeking to register to vote in this election.

You do not have to be a member of an ATA member organisation. Registering to vote is free and you can choose to vote for both representative positions or just one.

Candidate nominations will open on 25 January 2017 whilst voter registrations and candidate nominations will close on 22 February 2017.
