WORLDWIDE – Hans Günther Kersten has been named Deputy Director General of the International Federation of Freight Forwarders Association (FIATA), effective immediately, and is set to succeed Marco Sorgetti, FIATA's Director General and Chief Executive Officer following his retirement in September. Kersten started his career as an associate at Oppenhoff & Rädler (later merged with Linklaters). For the last 18 years, he has worked for Deutsche Bahn in various senior management positions, four and a half years of which seconded to the international railway association UIC where he held the position of Director of Freight.

UK – The Road Haulage Association (RHA) has announced changes to its Policy team ahead the retirement of Jack Semple later this year, in July. Rod McKenzie, currently Director of Marketing and Communications, takes on the role of Director of Policy and Public Affairs, incorporating his current role.

Duncan Buchanan has taken on the role of Policy Director, dealing with the day-to-day detail of RHA Policy, reporting to Rod McKenzie. Buchanan joined the RHA last year as Deputy Policy Director, having left the Department of Transport where he had spent 10 years working on freight policy issues.

UK – The Freight Transport Association (FTA) has appointed Elizabeth de Jong as its new Director of Policy, effective July 3. She joins the FTA from the Rail Delivery Group where she held the same role, and prior to that, de Jong worked at the Department for Transport for six years in a variety of posts.

UK – The John Good Group has announced Stewart Oades as Deputy Chairman as part of the company’s long-term succession plan. Over the next 12 months, Oades will work closely with current Chairman John Rutherford, and Managing Director Adam Platt, before ultimately taking over as Group Chairman in May 2018. The company remains privately owned by the fifth and sixth generations of the Good family.

During his career, Oades has held several senior positions throughout the UK's transport industry, having also previously served as President of the Freight Transport Association. He is currently a Senior Independent non-Executive Director for Wincanton and Reflex Van Hire, and is also the Chairman of Dalepak.

UK – The BMT Group has announced that Richard Adam has joined the Board as a non-Executive Director. From 2007 until retiring in 2016 he was Group Finance Director of Carillion and previously, he held the same role at Associated British Ports Holdings for seven years. Adam currently serves as a non-executive Director and Chairman of the Audit Committee of Countryside Properties, Countrywide, and FirstGroup.

UK – ByBox has appointed Simon Fahie to the role of Managing Director of Global Technology, responsible for increasing the organisation's international presence.

GERMANY – Tim Scharwath has formally joined the Management Board of Deutsche Post DHL as the new CEO of DHL Global Forwarding Freight. As announced last year, he takes over from Group CEO Frank Appel, who managed the role in the interim, having himself taken the role over from Renato Chiavi, who also held the role on an interim basis for the year prior. Chiavi was preceded by Roger Crook, who resigned following the disastrous attempt to overhaul the company’s IT infrastructure.

Scharwath previously headed the air freight business at Kuehne + Nagel.

DUBAI – QATAR – GAC has announced a series of changes to its senior team. Alex Garroch has been appointed Product Delivery Manager for GAC Global Hub Services. He was previously responsible for overseeing ship-to-ship transfer services. Vincent D’Souza has been named as Group Freight Manager, based at GAC’s Corporate Head Office in Dubai. He was previously Regional Business Development Manager for the Middle East.

Laurance Langdon, formerly Group Sales Development Manager, took over as General Manager – Management & Admin for the Group’s specialist hull cleaning business, GAC EnvironHull, effective since 1 June.

Tryggve Bengtsson has taken on the role of Business Manager for GAC Qatar. Prior to his appointment, he served as Commercial Manager – Liner for the company.

US – E. Nikolas Tavlarios has, by mutual agreement with the board of directors, resigned as President of Aegean Marine Petroleum Network, effective immediately. He will continue as a consultant to facilitate a seamless transition. In the interim, the company has formed a temporary leadership team comprising members of Aegean's senior management to oversee the company’s operations until a permanent replacement has been appointed.

US – David Pauly, President and Chief Executive Officer of Canal Insurance has announced his retirement effective immediately. Paul Brocklebank has been named to succeed Pauly, and will join the Canal Board of Directors, where Pauly will continue to serve.

US – Day & Ross has appointed Bill Doherty as its new President and CEO to succeed John Doucet, who will retire from the role on June 30. Doherty will be based in Hartland, New Brunswick and reports to Dirk Van de Put, President and CEO of McCain Foods, parent company of Day & Ross.

US – Radiant Logistics has announced Randy Briggs as Vice President of International Services of its freight forwarding operations. Based in Bellevue, Washington, Briggs will report to Arnie Goldstein, Chief Commercial Officer at Radiant.

US – Matheson has announced Mark Evans as its new Chief Financial Officer.

US – Direct ChassisLink has announced Brian Taylor as President, effective since June 1. Taylor most recently worked as CEO of the Jacksonville Port Authority.

US – Amy Ard has joined the management team of Proterra as Chief Financial Officer.

US – American Axle & Manufacturing (AAM) has appointed Tolga Oal as Senior Vice President of AAM Corporate. He will continue to hold the role of President of AAM North America.

CANADA – Charles Duncan has been named as the new head of WestJet Encore, WestJet's regional airlines, effective from June 6, pending immigration approval. In his most recent role at United Airlines, Charles was Senior Vice-President, Technical Operations.
