US – Mitsui OSK Lines (MOL) have assigned sales managers for their three sales regions after restructuring their refrigerated container cargo services. The three new regional managers for reefer sales are Mark McQueen, Atlantic region, Larry Flading for Central and Pat Ryan for the Pacific area. All three will work directly with another new appointee, Lincoln Pei, who has become director of refrigerated services.

Pei reports to Tsunemichi Mukai, vice president, Transpacific, Caribbean and Latin trade for MOL Liner. All are longstanding MOL employees Ryan started with the company in 1978, McQueen and Flading in 1989 and 1990 respectively and Pei in 1993 with all having extensive sales experience within the company.

US - Captain Rich Habib has been appointed vice president of Crowley Maritime subsidiary Titan Salvage operating out of the company’s Pompano Beach, Florida headquarters. Habib is a 1977 graduate of the U.S. Coast Guard Academy serving in various posts including commanding officer of a patrol boat and rescue station. Exchanged to the U.S. Navy, he served a tour aboard a frigate. After leaving the Coast Guard in 1984, he worked in the oil field aboard supply boats, the international tramp heavy lift trade aboard Dock Express and Van Ommeren vessels where he sailed as master and was a project manager.

In his new job Habib will report to Todd Busch, Crowley Maritime Corporation's senior vice president and general manager of technical services whilst former vice president Dan Schwall has accepted a new challenge leading the business development, sales and marketing efforts of Crowley's new solutions group.

US – Freight forwarders Jaguar Freight Services Ltd. has promoted Marc Selter from Director of U.S. Operations to Vice President of Strategy & Transformation. With more than 14 years of management experience in the logistics and supply chain industry, Mr. Selter will establish options for the future direction of the company's business.

US - Con-way Freight, the less-than-truckload (LTL) subsidiary of Con-way Inc. today announced that John P.Burton has been named Vice President - Yield Management. Based at Con-way Freight's corporate headquarters, Burton assumes responsibility for pricing, yield and contract management, and market analysis. He also will oversee systems supporting pricing and yield management.

A 25-year industry veteran, Burton joins Con-way Freight from ACT Research, where he was vice president of the transportation sector for this demand forecasting and research firm. His previous experience included management positions in pricing, marketing, sales administration and yield management with SCS Transportation and Preston Trucking Company, as well as Yellow Freight, a subsidiary of YRC Corp.

GERMANY – Ceva Logistics tell us they have appointed Frank Erhardt as Director of Contract Logistics, for CEVA in Central Europe, effective from 1 February 2010. From his base in Frankfurt, he will oversee the contract logistics business for the region, specifically driving operational excellence across all operations in Central Europe.

GERMANY – Ship owners and heavy lift specialist Rickmers Group have issued a statement confirming that Dr Moritz Mittelbach stepped down as CFO and Managing Director of Rickmers Holding GmbH & Cie KG and Pacific Holdings International GmbH & Cie KG with effect from 31 January 2011 at his own request.

Dr Mittelbach successfully guided the Rickmers Group through the difficult phase of the financial and shipping crisis and he will continue to bring his experience to bear by serving the company in an advisory role.During the past ten years Dr Mittelbach assisted in concluding financing agreements for the Rickmers Group’s newbuilding programme consisting of container and multi-purpose vessels,

UK – Damco, the logistics arm of A.P.Moller-Maersk, has announced the appointment of John McKail as Head of Field Sales - Northern UK. John joined Damco from Agility where he was formally National Sales Director. With a career spanning 25 years, John previously held senior commercial positions with Agility, La Poste and UPS. Commenting on his appointment, John said:

"Damco is a well established and recognised market leader within the global freight forwarding and supply chain logistics markets. I relish the challenge of my new appointment and look forward to contributing to the future success of the organisation".

SWITZERLAND – Agility have recently appointed Jeppe Kold as route manager for Trans-Atlantic and Europe/Africa trades. Based in the Basel office Kold comes to Agility with a strong track record in the global ocean transportation industry. Kold has held management positions at Maersk Line and most recently was responsible for African trade management at NYK Line.
