UK – Warehouse space strategist, Bis Henderson Space, has appointed Alex Murray to the position of Business Development Manager. Alex Murray's appointment is part of the first phase of a recruitment drive to support plans for growth of the business and will be followed by further appointments. Alex will be responsible for driving new business opportunities, as well as developing and managing a growing supplier base.

Having previously performed senior account management roles at British Airways, Philip Morris International and Culina Logistics, Alex brings a wealth of knowledge and experience. Recently he was Commercial Director at Moore Technology where he helped solve business issues with smart technologies and for over two years operated his own business, providing interim solutions for account and contract management activities across FMCG, sales, logistics and the supply chain.

UK – Online fulfilment and supply chain solutions specialist, Walker Logistics, has appointed Adrian Skirrow as its new Head of Operations. With over 20 years’ leadership experience, Adrian has held a number of senior operational positions across the manufacturing and logistics sectors. In his new role, he will be responsible for overseeing all administrative and operational processes at Walker’s 250,000 square foot multi-user storage and order fulfilment facility in Berkshire.

UK – Commencing 11 October Kate Cornhill will become Head of Human Resources (HR) for the Southampton region at Associated British Ports (ABP). Kate Cornhill is currently the Senior People Director at Carnival UK, which is owned by the world's largest cruise ship operator, the American-British Carnival Corporation & plc., and includes the well-known cruise lines P&O Cruises & Cunard. Bringing expertise from her current role in recruitment for the maritime industry, as well as valuable experience from previous senior HR positions, ABP is looking forward to welcoming Kate to the company.

US – UK – FRANCE – XPO Logistics has announced the appointment of Christine Robinne to lead the company's technology organisation and digital strategy in Europe. She will report to Luis Gomez, president – Europe, and to Mario Harik, XPO's chief information officer.

Robinne joins XPO from Heineken International, where she most recently led the digitalisation of Heineken's operations in Europe as director of transformation and technology. Earlier, she served as Heineken's information technology director for Europe and chief information officer for France. She began her career with Quaker Oats (France) as a programmer and project manager. Robinne holds a master's degree in computer science.

SINGAPORE – DENMARK – Ship management outfit Synergy Group has appointed Martin Ackermann as Chief Commercial Officer. Reporting directly to Founder & CEO Captain Rajesh Unni, Ackermann has been handed responsibility for Finance, Commercial, Strategy and Transformation Interventions across the Synergy Group. Ackermann, 43, was engaged as a strategic advisor for Synergy from January 2021. He assumed his new role on 1 September 2021 and is based at the company’s fast-growing Copenhagen office in Denmark.

He has previously held numerous executive leadership roles with prominent ship owners. Prior to joining Synergy Group, Ackermann was CEO of Evergas, Managing Director of Eitzen Gas, Managing Director of B-Gas and a board member of the World LPG Association. Most recently he worked closely with Synergy Group as CEO of Oslo Stock Exchange-listed BW LPG.

INDIA – IT solutions provider for the global logistics industry Kale Logistics Solutions, has appointed Pawan Chande as its new Chief Financial Officer (CFO), effective from 1st September 2021. He brings to the role more than 25 years of experience in finance, leadership, and strategy positions at multinational companies across a range of industries, most recently as CFO of employee recognition company O.C. Tanner.
