WORLDWIDE – BIMCO has elected Sabrina Chao of Wah Kwong Maritime Transport Holdings as President at the organisation’s online general meeting. Chao takes over as the 45th President of BIMCO. She succeeds Şadan Kaptanoğlu, Managing Director of Kaptanoglu Shipping, who has completed her two-year term.

Chao has been in the shipping industry since 2001 and joined the family business, Wah Kwong Maritime Transport Holdings Limited, in 2002. She held the position as Chairman of the group from 2013 until August 2019 and from 2016, she served a two-year term as Chairman of the Hong Kong Shipowners Association.

Chao takes over after a 2-year period as President Designate, and at the general meeting, Nikolaus Schües, CEO of German-based Reederei Laeisz, was elected as President Designate.

EUROPE – Volta Trucks, the full-electric commercial vehicle manufacturer, has announced a number of strategic appointments to its Executive Management Team. John Burrows has been appointed as the company’s Chief Financial Officer, Casper Norden joins Volta Trucks as Chief Strategy Officer, and Mornie Robertson named as Chief Human Resources Officer.

UK – Forth Ports has announced Michelle Primrose as its new Group HR Manager and Matt McCreath as Group Financial Controller. Both joined the Group in April.

UK – The Pallet Network (TPN) has announced the appointment of Joanne Davis as its new Finance Director.

UK – The Pall-Ex Group has named Sian Morley as its new Marketing Manager. Morley joined the team in April, bringing with her 18 years of experience in the marketing industry.

UK – The National Register of LGV Instructors (NRI) has announced the appointments of Tom Ray as its new NRI Manager and Leanne Hill as its new Examinations Administrator.

NORWAY – Norcod has announced Kia Zadegan as its new Chief Financial Officer, effective June 1. He joins the company from DataLab where he also held the role of CFO. Zadegan takes over the CFO slot at Norcod from Ragna Engvik, who has occupied the position to date on secondment from global professional services firm PWC. He will be based at the company’s headquarters in Trondheim, Norway.

US – The American Trucking Associations (ATA) has announced that President and CEO Chris Spear has had his contract renewed for an additional five-year term.

US – XPO Logistics has appointed Angus Tweedie to the role of Senior Vice President, Strategy, for the GXO Logistics, the intended spin-off of XPO’s logistics business. Tweedie will join XPO later this month, and will work with Mark Manduca, GXO’s chief investment officer, Tweedie’s responsibilities will include analysing growth opportunities for GXO, as well as communicating the company’s investment rationale to the global investment community.

CANADA – The Lion Electric Company, manufacturers of all-electric medium and heavy-duty urban vehicles, has named Brian Piern as Chief Commercial Officer (CCO), effective June 7. In this role, Piern will guide Lion to the next level of its growth by expanding to new markets and building on long-standing relationships with existing clients, while developing new accounts and expanding market share. He will report to Marc Bedard, Founder and CEO.

Piern most recently served as Vice President, Sales and Marketing at XL Fleet Corp.

CANADA – France Pégeot has been named Chair of the Canadian Transportation Agency (CTA) for a term of five years. She most recently served as Executive Vice-President of the Canadian Food Inspection Agency.

INDIA – Allcargo Logistics has announced the appointments of VS Parthasarathy, former Group CFO and CIO of Mahindra & Mahindra, and Martin Mueller, former Partner at global consulting giant McKinsey, as independent Directors on its Board. Mueller and Parthasarathy have also joined the Board of Allcargo’s wholly-owned subsidiary ECU Worldwide.
