Another Scandal Opens Staff Changes in Freight and Multimodal Logistics Industry This Week

US – Our roundup of staff movements in the world of freight and multimodal logistics starts with scandal this week after the Chief Executive Jeff Smisek and two senior officials of United Airlines resigned on Tuesday amid news of a federal investigation into whether the airline had traded favours with the Chairman of the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey. United are accused of launching money-losing flights to benefit former Port Authority Chairman David Samson, who resigned from the role last year.

The two senior officials to step down have been named as Nene Foxhall, Executive Vice President for Communications and Government Affairs, and Mark R. Anderson, Senior Vice President for Corporate and Government Affairs.

Former CSX Chairman and Chief Operating Officer Oscar Munoz, has been named as President and Chief Executive Officer to replace Smisek. Henry Meyer III, United's lead independent Director, has been appointed as non-Executive Chairman of the Board of Directors.

US – With Munoz leaving for United, CSX has announced a series of senior management changes, all effective immediately. Executive Vice President and Chief Sales and Marketing Officer Clarence Gooden, has been appointed President, overseeing both Operations and Sales and Marketing.

EVP and Chief Financial Officer Fredrik Eliasson is now Executive Vice President and Chief Sales and Marketing Officer. Former EVP – Operations Cindy Sanborn is appointed EVP and COO of CSX Transportation. Finally, former Vice President – Service Design, Frank Lonegro has been appointed as EVP and CFO.

US – Rick Lee has been named as Seko Logistics’ new Chief Operating Officer – USA. Based in Chicago, he oversees Seko’s Client Solution Group (CSG), operations and procedures, logistics infrastructure and procurement.

US – Con-way Freight has promoted Director of Sales for the Pacific Northwest Jill Bixby, to the role of Vice President of Western Area Sales. Based in Portland, Oregon, she reports to Stephen F. Dean, senior vice president of sales for Con-way Freight.

US – The Federal Maritime Commission has announced Carl Kemp to serve as Senior Advisor for Legislative and Public Affairs, reporting directly to Chairman Mario Cordero.

AUSTRALIA – US – Ceva Logistics has announced Clayton Noble as the new Managing Director of its Australia and New Zealand operations. Noble replaces Casey Fisher, who is returning to the United States of America to become Ceva’s Executive Vice President Business Development of its North American operations.

FRANCE – Hervé Montjotin, CEO of what is now known as XPO Logistics Europe (formally Norbert Dentressangle) has left the company. No reason was given. Troy Cooper, Chief Operating Officer of XPO Logistics has been named as Montjotin's replacement.

FRANCE – Groupe Eurotunnel has appointed François Gauthey as Chief Financial and Corporate Officer in charge of Corporate services for the group.

UK – Katja Hall has announced her decision to step down from her role as Deputy Director-General of the Confederation of British Industry. Leaving at the end of October, Hall's departure comes after the CBI’s recent decision to name Carolyn Fairbairn as its new Director-General effective in November over Hall, who had also been in the running for the role.

UK – On September 7, Dr Catherine Raines became the Chief Executive of UK Trade and Investment, succeeding Dominic Jeremy, who has taken up his new role as Foreign & Commonwealth Office International Counter-Extremism Coordinator, effective since September 4.

UK – Engineering consultancy Idom Merebrook, has announced the appointment of Nicola Jenkins-Graham, as Associate Director – Environment, Quality, and Health & Safety. Jenkins-Graham has a wealth of specialist expertise with over 20 years of experience in the port sector, having held several senior management positions, including with the Port of London Authority and the Port of Dover.

UK – The Port of Tyne has appointed Marie Glanville as its new Chief Financial Officer.

UK – The Fork Lift Apprentices Trust (FLAT) has welcomed new Chairman Derek Anderson of Manbat Industrial Power Systems to its Board. The FLAT Fund is a registered charity established in 2008 as a joint initiative by the fork lift truck world’s two main trade bodies: the Fork Lift Truck Association (FLTA) and British Industrial Truck Association (BITA).
