GERMANY – WORLDWIDE – The ability to ship food and fresh products around the world has become an integral, and essential part of the economies of many countries. This applies to both exporters and importers and, with the rapidly changing technologies involved in the chilling and freezing of foodstuffs of every kind, the twenty fifth Fruit Logistica event has become even more crucial than ever for shippers, buyers, freight forwarding agents and container shipping companies alike.

This year’s event will run in Berlin from 7-9 February and will enable visitors to view first hand and discuss the latest innovations, products and services across the international supply chain. Last year the event saw over 76,000 visitors coming from over 130 countries attend this key calendar event, whilst, as this year, there were around 3,000 different organisations exhibiting at a show which also has some ramifications for those involved in the temperature controlled transport of pharmaceuticals.

One company which takes the Logistica events very seriously is the container giant Mediterranean Shipping Company (MSC) which will be appearing at stand B-02 in Hall 25. The Swiss headquartered group is sending representatives from 25 of its agencies worldwide to present its reefer capabilities to visitors.

The sheer numbers make it plain just how big this global trade is and its importance to those responsible for the maintenance of what is arguably the most important part of the supply chain. The MSC fleet carries one and a quarter million tonnes of reefer cargo every year utilising the expertise of more than 1,000 experts in the trade worldwide and its website offers a clear picture of what the carriage of non-ambient cargo involves.

For those in the market to source a fresh product, collect it, pack it, ship it by any modal means and have it delivered – all whilst staying in good condition, this is the place to be next month. A scan of listed exhibitors can provide all the information a would-be purchaser needs to enable one to establish which stands to visit over the course of a day or so.
