HONG KONG – FRANCE – US – A couple of air freight news snippets as Norbert Dentressangle Freight Forwarding Air & Sea announces it has launched a four times weekly air freight service from Hong Kong to Paris to meet demand from French importers whilst American Airlines and US Airways Cargo have produced May tonnage figures showing a significant increase.

Firstly those US figures as the two companies, both now flying under the American Airlines Group banner, reported positive combined traffic growth in May 2014 of 204.9 million cargo tonne miles (CTM), a 6.4% rise against the same period in 2013. This means year-to-date CTMs were 961.6 million, jumping up a full 10.8% as against last year.

Norbert Dentressangle meanwhile have taken heed of figures released by France Diplomatie, the French Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Development, indicating imports from Hong Kong, principally jewellery, time-pieces, toys and a variety of communication devices, have seen a rise since 2012 of 11.6% reaching €272 million this year. Hong Kong remains an important gateway for goods coming from southern China and Dentressangle maintains a daily trucking service into its own consolidation facility in the city state.

Combined with its home country road haulage network for distribution of consignments arriving in Paris, Dentressangle is able to offer a genuine door-to-door service and a single point of contact, from origin to destination, a point Guillaume Col, Managing Director of Norbert Dentressangle Freight Forwarding Air & Sea reinforces, saying:

“This is a great example of how Norbert Dentressangle can draw on its global network to offer new services to meet specific customer demands. Air freight from Hong Kong to France is highly transactional and spot rates can vary significantly. Thanks to the agreements we have negotiated, we are able to offer our customers a guaranteed service at a guaranteed price, along with access to our wider service offering, providing them with a streamlined and cost-effective end-to-end supply chain solution.”
