EUROPE – P&O Ferrymasters is purchasing 600 new 45 foot, pallet wide high-cube freight containers to add to its already growing fleet. The multi-million euro investment ties in with the multimodal operator and logistics solutions provider's plans to continue to add more routes and services across Europe and Asia to its portfolio.

The new equipment is scheduled to arrive in the second half of 2019 and follows last year’s order for 700 similar units and 240 new 45’ swap body units to supplement pan-European and Mediterranean services. The latest order brings P&O Ferrymasters’ total capacity to 4,000 containers units and 2,000 trailers.

P&O Ferrymasters says it intends to continue to expand its routes from Western Europe through to Asia by developing hubs such as its own rail terminal in Oradea, Romania, and by continuing to invest in its transport assets. Wim Blomme, Intermodal Director at P&O Ferrymasters, commented:

“As P&O Ferrymasters continues to expand the reach of our services across Europe and Asia, we will continue to make significant investments like this into our vital transport assets to ensure the capacity and quality of service our clients need.

”This new investment into freight containers will support our growing network, allowing us to continue to improve transport costs through enhanced modal shift, and provide the far reaching and reliable services P&O Ferrymasters is known for.”
