A Week's Staff Moves in the Freight and Logistics Supply Chain

WORLDWIDE – Changes in the senior sales staff at the freight arm of United Airlines, United Cargo, kicks off this week’s round up of staff movements from all across the logistics supply chain. United has appointed former Director of Italy and Switzerland at Air France-KLM, Jacques Leijssenaar as Vice President of Cargo Sales – EMEIA. Leijssenaar’s appointment forms part of a wider reshuffle in United Cargo’s ‘new alignment’ which all four sales regions now reporting directly to Jan Krems, United Cargo President.

Leijssenaar succeeds Mirco Renfer who has transitioned from leading EMEIA Sales to leading the APAC Sales unit, following the retirement of Rick Fall, whose career in the airline industry stretches nearly 45 years. United Cargo further announced the appointment of David King as Managing Director of Cargo Pricing, Revenue Management and Sales Strategy.

HONG KONG – The Board of Directors of COSCO Pacific has announced several changes to its senior management with Li Yunpeng resigning as a non-Executive Director and the Chairman of the Board due to re-designation of work, effective immediately. Li’s replacement has already been named non-Executive Director, Wan Min.

Wang Haimin has been reassigned from an Executive Director to a non-Executive Director at COSCO Pacific and has also stepped down from his role as a Deputy Managing Director as well as resigning from numerous other roles from within the company. Lastly, Executive Director and a Deputy Managing Director, Qiu Jinguang has been appointed as the Vice Chairman and Managing Director as well as taking up the several other roles vacated by Wang.

HONG KONG – Lilian Chan, Executive Director of Commercial and Business Development at Hactl is taking up a new role as Global Ambassador for the company, commencing February 1. Chan’s successor has been named as Vivien Lau, currently Managing Director of subsidiary company, Hacis.

INDIA – The Shipping Corporation of India has appointed Barun Mitra as Part-time Official Director on the Board of SCI with effect since January 20.

UK – Jungheinrich UK has announced the appointment of three senior additions to its Systems & Projects Division team. Tony Eckley has taken up the role of Project Manager, while Mark Ogden has joined as Very Narrow Aisle Systems Product Manager (Northern Region) and Tony Crowe has become Product Manager for Racking and Storage Systems (Western Region).

UK – The Shipowners’ P&I Club has announced the appointment of Simon Swallow, current Commercial Manager, as Chief Executive, succeeding Charles Hume, effective March 9.

UK – Golar LNG has announced that its CEO, Doug Arnell has decided to step down from his role, effective February 1, but will continue to work closely with the company in an advisory capacity as well as being appointed to the board of Golar's Nasdaq listed affiliate Golar LNG Partners LP.

Golar has named Gary Smith as Arnell’s successor. Smith had previously been CEO of a smaller Golar LNG, between 2006 and 2009, before leaving the role citing family reason.

DENMARK – Christian Bonfils, Managing Director and a founding partner of Nordic Bulk Carriers, has reportedly resigned from his post, effective immediately.

NORTH AMERICA – As of January 16, Vincent Halma the former Chief Sales Officer, has taken over as President and CEO of KION North America Corporation, succeeding Brian Butler, who left the group in order to pursue new opportunities outside the company.
