UK – WORLDWIDE – Like so many involved in the world of shipping and freight forwarding much of our work happens behind a desk when the real action is out on the quayside, the runway or the transport shed of a road haulage outfit. Now the country’s latest deep water port, DP World’s London Gateway, has balanced things a little with a time lapse video showing the container movements when one of the largest box vessels in the world arrived in the early hours of this morning to discharge her cargo.

This 90 second film shows all the action when the giant UASC vessel Barzan docks and begins to offload over 4,000 containers containing millions of import items from Asia to be distributed across the UK over the coming days.

The video is reminiscent of a wildlife film which shows insects picking over the carcass of some dead animal but all the players in the particular movie are very much alive with the Barzan due to depart from her River Thames berth within a few hours of this being written.
