UK – One of the best known, and longest established names on the British shipping and freight forwarding scene continues to develop as the John Good Group, gearing up for the company’s imminent move to a brand new head office in December, announces it has seen a strong and robust period of growth which has culminated with inclusion in the 2014 Yorkshire Insider’s Growth Top 100 list. John Good is one of the longest serving businesses in the region with roots stretching back to 1833 as a ships chandler, agent and broker.

With over 260 members of staff operating from 16 different sites across the UK as well as in Turkey and China, John Good has established itself as one of the UK’s leading independent providers in an assortment of maritime related roles. Over recent years the company has diversified extensively to become an established and well respected player throughout the UK and overseas in the freight forwarding & logistics, warehousing & distribution, corporate and leisure travel industries.

Now a strong and robust period of growth resulting in a 58.5% rise in turnover to £41 million last year sees the company at 15th place in the county’s Growth Index and according to Managing Director, Alan Platt, the group is on the right track to achieving the ambitious and defined long-term growth targets it has planned to take it through to 2022. He continues:

“We are delighted to be included in such a prestigious list. The Yorkshire region has some excellent and forward thinking companies, and to be placed at number 15, and the only representative from Hull, is testament to the hard work and commitment of each individual member of staff across all our different businesses.

“Our 2022 target and long-term strategy was defined over 10 years ago. At that time it was without doubt very ambitious, but we firmly believe it is achievable. We are making great strides to reach this goal primarily through a combination of targeted acquisitions and organic growth. We were included in the Yorkshire Post’s Fastest 50 Growing Companies back in 2011 and 2012, and to be included in a similar list two years later shows we have no signs of slowing down.”
