UK – The weekly round-up of freight and logistics staff appointments and departures around the globe begins with the UK where, following the opening of its office in Liverpool in December 2016, long established shipping and port agency group John Good has announced the appointment of Neil Flower as its Agency Manager North West and he will commence in the role on April 3.

Flower will be responsible for developing the liner and port agency activities for both John Good Shipping and DAN Shipping & Chartering in the Port of Liverpool, the Manchester Ship Canal and the wider River Mersey. Flower brings with him over 30 years’ experience in the ship agency business and is a well-known and respected figure amongst the local port community. In addition, Flower is Chairman of the Ship Canal Users and Ship Owners Association and a member of the North West Seaman’s Welfare Committee. Alan Platt, Managing Director of The John Good Group commented:

UK – V Group has announced the appointments of John Pattullo and Jesper Kjaedegaard to its board. Pattullo, who will assume the position of Chairman, has had a diverse career spanning more than 40 years with experience in global supply chain, logistics and freight forwarding, including CEO of Ceva Logistics. Kjaedegaard has been a long time Maersk man having worked for the Danish shipper for over 30 years.

UK – Tim Blackmore OBE and Simon Evans have been named as Traffic Commissioner for the North East and North West, respectively, both effective in May. Colonel Tim Blackmore currently heads the British Forces Post Office and was commissioned into the Royal Corps of Transport in 1992. He is a fellow of the Chartered Institute of Transport and Logistics and the Chartered Management Institute. He will fill the post vacated by Kevin Rooney, who took over the West of England in October 2016.

Simon Evans is currently a Deputy Traffic Commissioner for the North West of England and assumes the new role from Beverley Bell when she steps down in the Spring.

Additionally 4 new Deputy Traffic Commissioners have been named: Mark Hinchliffe for the North East of England, Jayne Salt for the North East of England, Laura Thomas for the East of England, and Hugh Olson in Scotland.

UK – Jim Kirkwood has been appointed as the new Chief Executive Officer of the TTC Group.

UK – Cardiff Airport has announced Terry Morgan as a Non-Executive Director, who will offer expertise to the Board of Directors. The appointment follows the recent promotion of Deb Barber to Chief Executive Officer.

UK – With the recent expansion of its UK office, Norwegian eNavigation specialist Navtor has announced Richard Northover to lead the Somerset based office.

UK – Software specialists OrderWise has announced 11 new members of staff to join a wide range of departments. Daniel Cowan, Kyle Durham, Abbii Whalley and Lewis Barnard, who all join as Technical Support Adviser.

Jane Wallis joins as Client Account Manager, with previous experience working for a stock control software company implementing global ERP systems. The sales team is welcomes Olwyn Rees as a Sales Co-Ordinator. Connor Barnard is joining as an Implementation Assistant. Josh Taylor and Ciara Highfield join as Accounts Specialists. Steven Roberts, who has worked as an app developer in the past, is adapting his skills to being a Front-End Developer. The e-commerce team welcomes James Gore as a Web Designer.

UK – SWEDEN – Current Chief Operating Officer at GB Railfreight (GBRf) David Knowles has been named as Managing Director of GBRf’s new parent company, Hector Rail in Sweden, effective April 10. Knowles will be appointed non-Executive Director to GBRf, retaining his position on the board.

GERMANY – Xeneta has announced Michael Braun as Director of Value Engineering and Head of Xeneta Advisor department.

DENMARK – Michael Hansen has been named to Hempel’s Executive Management Board as the new Executive Vice President and Chief Commercial Officer, reporting director to Group President and CEO Henrik Andersen.

NORWAY – Former head of Carnival Maritime Jens Lassen, and former CEO of V Ships Group Donald Anderson, have joined OSM Maritime Group as Members of the Board.

CANADA – Paul George Dittmann has been named as a Member of the Transportation Safety Board of Canada for a four year term starting on May 1. Joseph Hincke has been reappointed to the board for a three year term, effective April 9.

CANADA – Michael Saunders has been named President and Chief Executive Officer of the Canadian Air Transport Security Authority, for a one-year interim term.

US – Ascent Global Logistics has announced Aaron Brott to Vice President of Strategic Accounts for Marisol International, a subsidiary of Ascent.

US – Eugene Davis, a Director of Genco Shipping and Trading has decided not to stand for re-election to the Board of Directors when his term expires on May 17, at the company’s annual shareholders meeting.

US – Seegrid has appointed Steven Barto as the company’s new Chief Financial Officer. Barto comes to Seegrid with more than 30 years of experience and has held CFO and executive positions at both privately held and public technology companies.

US – GSC Logistics has announced Steven Larkin as Senior Manager of Sales and Business Development, based at the Oakland, California headquarters.

US – The American Trucking Association has announced several promotions and new appointments. John Lynch, previously Vice President of Federal Relations and Intergovernmental Affairs, has been named the new Senior Vice President of Federation Relations and Industry Affairs. Former Director of Legislative Affairs Henry Hanscom, has been named Vice President of Legislative Affiars.

Joe Hite, former Director of Event Development, has been appointed to the role of Vice President of Business Development. Previous Manager of Sponsorships and Exhibits Dan Duggan, has been promoted to the position of Director of Sponsorships and Exhibits.

In addition to these promotions, the ATA has hired Tim Smith as its new Vice President of Creative Services and Creative Director, and Julia Grove as Director of Marketing.
