Global Appointments and Departures in Shipping, Freight and Logistics This Week

Shipping News Feature DENMARK – SWEDEN – The week's appointments news in the freight and logistics sector opens with the announcement that Copenhagen Malmö Port (CMP) has named Deputy CEO, Barbara Scheel Agersnap, as its new CEO, with former Chief Financial Officer, Jonas Arkestad simultaneously becoming deputy CEO, retaining his post as CFO. Both changes within CMP will take immediate effect.

AUSTRIA – Michael Thomsen has been named as the new Branch Manager of Gebrüder Weiss Salzburg, succeeding Peter Schafleitner, who will now focus on his role as Director of the Central Region at Gebrüder Weiss.

GERMANY – Cees van Gent has been named to take on the role of Chief Executive Officer at JF Hillebrand Group, effective October 1, succeeding Christophe Bernard, who will remain with the company to assist with the transition until March 2018.

GERMANY – Daimler Financial Services has announced changes to its senior leadership team with Benedict Schell appointed as Chief Experience Officer (CXO), and Jörg Lamparter, CEO of the moovel Group, recently assuming the role of Head of Mobility Services. Both report directly to CEO Klaus Entenmann.

UK – Kerry Logistics has appointed Claire Trench as Head of Food and Beverage (F&B), based at its Glasgow, Scotland office. Trench will collaborate closely with the F&B teams in Hong Kong, mainland China and Taiwan, meeting customers’ requirements by providing complete cold chain solutions to ensure that all products stay at their optimum temperature along the supply chains.

SENEGAL – Vincent Bayiha Kodock has been named Country Manager at OMA Logistics Senegal, effective since September 5.

MARSHALL ISLANDS – Pioneer Marine has announced several changes to its senior team, with Torben Janholt, who has served as a Board Member since 2013, named as the new company’s new CEO. Janholt is a former CEO and President of J. Lauritzen, and Chairman of the Danish Shipowners Association, between 2005 and 2009.

Korinna Tapaktsoglou has been appointed as Chief Financial Officer assuming responsibility for all financing related matters. Dimitris Papoulis has been promoted to General Manager, SVP of Pioneer Marine, most recently served as Vice President of Commercial Operations, a position he held since 2013. Papoulis will oversee commercial and operations of the company.

Sam Tsui, Interim CEO and who served as CFO of the company since its inception, is leaving the Company to pursue other opportunities.

CANADA – United Van Lines has named Dan Lawrence as President, effective since September 1. As President, Lawrence will have the responsibility for the Company's five operating divisions under the corporate group MoverOne Group – United Van Lines (Canada), Mayflower Canada, MoverOne International, Univan Leasing and MoverOne Logistics. He will report directly to the Board of Directors.

US – Boeing has named Maurtia Sutedja, a veteran Finance leader, as its next Vice President of Investor Relations. She will succeed Troy Lahr, who has been appointed Chief Financial Officer of Boeing's Autonomous Systems business. Sutedja will report to Greg D. Smith, Boeing's Chief Financial Officer and Executive Vice President of Enterprise Performance & Strategy.

Lahr will also join the board of United Launch Alliance, a joint venture between Boeing and Lockheed Martin.

The two appointments are effective September 22. Sutedja and Lahr will work together over the next few months to ensure a smooth transition.

US – Mark Robinson has been named president of UPS Capital, succeeding Ron Chang, who has accepted an assignment in Corporate Strategy.

US – Penske Automotive Group has appointed Greg C. Smith to its Board of Directors as an Independent Director. Until 2006, Smith had been employed by the Ford Motor Company, serving in many management positions. He also serves as a Director of Lear Corporation and formerly served as a Director of Penske Corporation and the Federal National Mortgage Association (Fannie Mae).
