UK – After a very successful AGM last week with motivational speaker, business coach and author Kerrianne Cartmer-Edwards setting the tone with an engaging presentation on unlocking your potential, having a successful mindset and strategies on how to Out-think & Out-perform the competition (and make the shift from Great to Fabulous in your life and career), the assembled sixty attendees provided a cross section of the freight community at the gathering of Women in Logistics UK.

After giving an overview of the group’s activity and achievements in 2011, followed by an interesting and fruitful discussion and vote on the members’ ideas of events and campaigns for 2012, Founder and Chair Ruth Waring commented:

“It is fantastic that we reached 2,500 members on time for our 3rd birthday on 16.09.2011 and that the group is still growing. We now have three sub-groups operating in other countries/regions: Asia/SouthPacific - ASPAC, Ireland, and Middle East North Africa – MENA”.

The steering group is already hard at work putting together the programme of events 2012 and looking for a voluntary campaigns manager to work on its 2 forthcoming campaigns, and the 1st national event is already nearly finalised. It will be a day Transport & Freight event on 26th January 2012 at transport law specialists Backhouse Jones Solicitors, Clitheroe, Lancashire BB7 9WD. Thanks to their kind sponsorship the event is be free to attend, and as usual any members of WIL UK are welcome to attend, men and women.

This event is designed to appeal to both the transport expert and those who would like to learn more about all things trucks, drivers and haulage. A series of short presentations by field experts will cover all aspects of the industry, including Operator Licence Compliance, Managing a Fleet, Driver CPC Training, Occupational Road Risk, Workplace Transport Safety, Managing Damages and Claims and International Transport.
