Shipping News Feature NEW CALEDONIA – GREECE – Specialist freight contractors Peters & May Commercial have completed one of their biggest challenges as they successfully transported a 52 metre Austal Alu Cat fast ferry from the island of New Caledonia in the South Pacific, 14,700 miles to Piraeus in Greece.

The ferry’s 170ft length, broad width and 236 tonne weight made the craft one of the biggest that Peters & May has shipped. Custom cradling and lifting gear were designed by the Peters & May team specifically for this job, to get the craft ready for safe shipment across the Pacific and Atlantic Oceans. Peters & May Global Commercial Sales Manager Robert Blades said:

“We’re so proud to have orchestrated this job over months of communication between Peters & May and the client. Having delivered the project to spec and to budget, it’s another success story for our bespoke, personal approach.”
